Leading feminist not-for-profit, YWCA Canberra, has today announced the recipients of its 2022 Great Ydeas Small Grants Program.
Each year, the organisation provides $10,000 in micro grants to women, girls and non-binary people in the Canberra region to pursue their passions and improve our community.
In 2022, Beyond Bank, Sustineo, Canberra Innovation Network and the Joyful Business Club each sponsored an additional grant, bringing the total funding pool on offer up to $16,000.
YWCA Canberra Chief Executive Officer Frances Crimmins said she has once again been blown away by the diversity and excellence in applications received to the program.
“Each year, we’re always astounded to see just how many incredible women, girls and non-binary people in Canberra have innovative ideas for their community, and a passion for creating change,” Ms Crimmins said.
“The recipients for this year’s Great Ydeas Grants are testimony to the talent pool of compassionate advocates, creative thinkers, and entrepreneurs we have in our community.
“We’re excited to fund projects such as Yurwan Bulan from Deborah Martin, which willempower and support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women to prevent and respond to domestic and family violence; or Kellyanne Rosalion’s Auslan Playgroup, which will bring together D/deaf parents and families and carers of D/deaf children for a social playgroup to build community and social networks.”
“These are just a few examples of the breadth of projects we’re excited to fund this year, in collaboration with our wonderful partners. They show how the whole community can benefit when we support and empower women and non-binary people to explore their great ideas.”
