Leading feminist not-for-profit, YWCA Canberra, has today announced the recipients of its 2023 Great Ydeas Small Grants Program.
Each year, the organisation provides $9,000 in micro grants to women, girls and non-binary people in the Canberra region to pursue their passions and improve our community.
In 2023, Beyond Bank, Sustineo, Ernst & Young and The Joyful Business Club each sponsored an additional grant, bringing the total funding pool on offer up to $18,500.
YWCA Canberra Chief Executive Officer Frances Crimmins said she is really pleased to see the diversity of applications from individuals wanting to help their communities.
“Once again we’re seeing a real passion for helping some of the most vulnerable members of our community. It speaks volumes about how caring we really are, especially when it comes to making a difference,” Ms Crimmins said.
“The recipients for this year’s Great Ydeas Grants come from a range of backgrounds with different ideas, but their desire to go above and beyond for others is a consistent theme.
“We’re excited to fund projects such as building financial literacy for neurodivergent women, providing grassroots support for isolated pregnant women and new mums, volunteer programs to build self-esteem in young women, and contributing towards developing an app for pharmacists to help patients come off anti-depressants.
“These are just a few examples of the breadth of projects we’re excited to fund this year, in collaboration with our wonderful partners. They show how the whole community can benefit when we support and empower women and non-binary people to explore their great ideas.”
