15 October 2017
Here at YWCA Canberra, all women are important to us. That’s why we are very excited to celebrate the International Day of Rural Women 2017 on Sunday 15 October!
This international day recognises the critical role and contribution of rural women, including indigenous women, in enhancing agricultural and rural development, improving food security and eradicating rural poverty.
Rural women form such an important part of our communities and to celebrate today, we spoke to Hannah Wandel to find out more.
Hannah is a YWCA Canberra Board Director and the Chair of our Membership Committee, and also the founder & CEO of national not-for-profit Country to Canberra, and a Board Director at the National Rural Women’s Coalition. She works extensively in advocating for rural women and girls!
Check out this great video, where Hannah shares her thoughts on rural women, and tells us why International Day of Rural Women is so important.
