WOMEN TO THE FRONT – TRANSFORMING WOMEN’S LEADERSHIP

12 May 2016

A leading robotics creator, the CEO of an international charity and a news anchor turned sustainability advocate are among a stellar line up of speakers at the 2016 She Leads Conference, occurring at QT Canberra on 17 May 2016.

Hosted by YWCA Canberra, a feminist, not-for-profit organisation, this unique leadership event will see more than 250 women gather for a day of inspiration, skills development and networking to advance women’s leadership.

Author, journalist and social commentator Jane Caro will MC the She Leads Conference, which will explore the theme ‘Transform’– focussing on personal transformation and women leaders who are transforming their workplaces, industries and communities.

Frances Crimmins, Executive Director of YWCA Canberra said persistent underrepresentation of women in leadership positions demonstrated the need to support women’s leadership development.

‘As an organisation driven by gender equality, we know that women’s leadership is absolutely crucial to achieving this goal,’ Ms Crimmins said.

The Conference caters to women from all sectors and at all stages of their careers.

‘I’m proud of our diverse line-up of speakers – we’ve got women leading change across a broad range of fields including science, international aid, advocacy and the media,’

‘What makes She Leads different is that we take a broad view of leadership – it’s not limited to conquering the board room.  Leadership in all its forms, whether it be in the community or in the workplace, needs to be nurtured and promoted.’

Defence Force Recruiting is the Principal Supporter for the She Leads Conference, in addition to supporting the She Leads College Conference, to be held later in 2016.

In addition, the Conference would not be possible without the support of Rowdy Digital as a Creative Partner, Women’s Agenda as Media Partner, and Capital Chemist, Aspen Medical, HESTA, the CBR Innovation Network and Microsoft Australia as Friends of the She Leads Conference.

In its third year, this highly popular event brings together women from Canberra and beyond. Visit 2016.sheleads.org.au for more information.
