YWCA Canberra provides essential, quality services for women, girls and families in the ACT and surrounding regions. We work in the areas of children’s services, community development, homelessness and affordable housing, youth services, personal and professional training, women’s leadership and advocacy.

YWCA Canberra is looking for a Supportive Tenancy Case Worker to support clients who are at risk of their tenancy breaking down, in public, private or affordable housing. The position aims to support people to sustain a tenancy and develop the skills to do so.  

The position will be based at our offices in inner city Canberra.  

We are looking for someone who has experience working in the area of housing and homelessness, and who is able to advocate for clients and liaise with a wide range of community support services. 

Reporting to the Manager Rentwell and Older Women’s Homelessness Service.This position plays a key role in supporting members of the community experiencing difficulties in their lives and may potentially be facing homelessness.   

The STS worker operates within a consortium agreement between a number of community services organisations 

About You:

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated skills and experience in managing complex issues relating to homelessness and dealing with complex and multifaceted case management. The successful applicant will also have strong communication skills with the ability to present and explain complex issues to multiple stakeholders, excellent organisation skills and proven ability to meet deadlines.   

Possession of vocational qualifications in relevant field including Community Development or Community Services will be considered highly desirable.
