At YWCA Canberra, we understand that the experience of childhood is a unique journey. We value childhood as important in the present, as well as providing the foundation for all future learning and development.
Our aim is to provide children and families with a sense of belonging through ensuring a safe, supportive, respectful and inclusive environment.
Our role is to develop and create, rich, engaging play-based learning environments which are reflective of children’s interests and allow for exploration. We ensure this by providing children with the skills and experiences needed to develop as lifelong learners and to become competent, active and informed individuals.
Our Educational Programs are designed to promote children’s holistic development, whilst being reflective of the United Nations Convention on the rights of the Child.
Our services are fully licensed, and assessed and rated by the ACT Governments regulatory body, Children’s Education and Care Assurance (CECA).

Am I eligible for the Child Care Subsidy (CCS)?

“My 2-year-old twins have been attending YWCA Conder for 6 months now. All of the educators at the centre have been amazing. I could not fault the centre or the care given to my children. Their communication, professionalism and their friendly personalities have been faultless. They are always so welcoming and are happy to have a chat. The centre is clean, the food is nutritious and yummy, and the outside play area is big and is lots of fun for the kids. I would highly recommend this centre” – Ashlie
“My two-year-old daughter always looks forward to the days she goes to YWCA Conder. The staff really make an amazing effort with the kids to ensure their day is full of variety and each time I collect her, they keep me up to date on how her day went. The outdoor area is also really spacious compared to a lot of other centres, giving the kids a lot of room to run around. I highly recommend this centre due to the space, the friendly staff and the enjoyment my child has when she attends” – Carmen
“We have been a part of YWCA Conder for 6 years now with my 3 children attending since babies. The educators have always been welcoming and communicated regularly about the activities from the day. They have always been very accommodating towards particular routines and food intolerances. My children have always enjoyed the activities, excursions and community involvement. A great Centre which I will continue to recommend!” – Jemma
“I have two kids who have been in care at Campbell Cottage for about a year and they and I love it.
My daughter had severe separation anxiety when she started as this was her first care away from home. The extremely friendly carers worked with her (and me!) with the utmost care to help her get settled and to be comfortable. You wouldn’t recognise her now, sometimes I have to encourage her to leave!
We love the open and outdoor spaces for play, and the activities (art and craft, gardening, music/dancing etc.) It always feels relaxed and calm and the communication from the team is great” – Melanie
“My children have been attending this centre for over a year now. I highly recommend this centre to anyone who will listen. Things I love about YWCA’s Conder Child Care Centre are: diverse, caring and kind educators; a focus on the child’s learning and enjoyment (I love that my kids come home happy and messy); and the ‘family’ atmosphere of the centre (siblings visit one another and play together in the joint playground). I have had children in all the rooms (Baby, Toddler, Pre-School) and they are all wonderful. If your child attends pre-school at Charles Conder Primary they are able to walk your child over on a half day (brilliant!). To top it off it is fantastic value for money. I feel very blessed to drop my children off each morning and know that they are in safe hands, and will have a great day” – Hayley
