Do you want a career helping the next generation develop and grow? YWCA Canberra now offers training in school age education and care.
We are passionate about providing quality professional development to people who are entering or currently working in the school age care education and care sector. Our students gain a nationally recognised qualification through face-to-face group training, mentoring sessions, workplace training and practical placements.
Our training is designed to promote children’s holistic development, and is based on the principles of the National Quality Framework, Early Years Learning Framework, My Time, Our Place Framework for School Age Care and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child
Our next course starts 25 February 2020.
The Certificate IV in School Age Education and Care (CHC40113) prepares students to work with school age children as educators in outside school hours care and vacation programs.
As an educator, you will support the implementation of an approved learning framework, could work under direct supervision or autonomously, and may have responsibility to supervise volunteers or other staff.
This qualification includes 19 units of competency (15 core units and four elective units). To complete the Certificate IV in School Age Education and Care, students must show competence in all 19 units, plus a compulsory work placement of a minimum of 120 hours in a regulated school age care service.
YWCA Canberra delivers a range of school age care programs, so where possible we try to find placements for students in our services.
These qualifications are available as fee-for-service, through the ACT Government Skilled Capital funded training initiative and through User Choice funding as part of a traineeship. Our course fees are in the ‘training cost’ section on the Student Information page.
