2022 They Leads Conference

YWCA Canberra is excited to launch They Leads – a leadership conference designed to inspire, empower, and amplify the voices of LGBTIQA+ young people and allies aged 12-25. This all-day, free event will engage attendees through a program of talks, panels and interactive sessions exploring what inclusive leadership looks like, how to be a leader in your community, and some of the specific challenges and opportunities for young LGBTIQA+ leaders.

Get ready… They Leads features:

  • Uplifting keynotes from local prominent LGBTIQA+ young leaders
  • Engaging panel conversations that invite students to join the discussion
  • Entertainment from local LGBTIQA+ artists as well as creative activities throughout the day
  • An intersectional approach unpacking how LGBTIQA+ young people can break through barriers to embark on their unique leadership journey

Who should attend?

They Leads is for young people aged 12-25 who:

  • Identify as LGBTQIA+, gender/sexuality diverse or an ally to the community
  • Are interested in meeting people and gaining leadership skills in a safe and inclusive environment
  • Would benefit from skills and strategies to help them navigate school, work, and the community

Event details:

Date: 17 May 2022. Registrations will commence at 8.45am for a 9.30am start. The event will conclude at 3pm.

Location: 245 Cowlishaw Street, Greenway, Tuggeranong (The Ballroom at Communities@Work)

Cost and inclusions: This program is free for young people to attend, however places are limited.
