Member briefing on proposed changes to YWCA Canberra Constitution

This year, the YWCA Canberra Board has reviewed our constitution and we are seeking your endorsement of some amendments.

We believe the amendments we’ve proposed will make it easier for us to grow and service our membership base, meet the requirements of the Australian Charities and Not for Profit Commission and better align our constitution with YWCA Australia’s.

Some of these changes are administrative in nature, but key amendments include:

  • quorum requirements to be changed from 20% of membership to 30 members
  • criteria for admission, resignation and removal of membership added to membership policy
  • allowing proxies to be received 48 hours prior to a vote, rather than a week beforehand
  • updating term limits for board directors
  • greater clarity and flexibility regarding the procedures for members voting, including options such as online voting.

We are offering members the opportunity to find out more about these changes before we put the amendment to a member vote at an Extraordinary General Meeting.
