This year the YWCA Canberra Board has reviewed our constitution and we are seeking endorsement of some amendments from YWCA Canberra Members.
This governance review has taken place at an exciting time for YWCA Canberra, with the continued expansion of the organisation and global Y movement, including the formation of a new YWCA Australia.
We believe the amendments we’ve proposed will make it easier for us to grow and service our membership base, meet the requirements of the Australian Charities and Not for Profit Commission and better align our constitution with YWCA Australia’s.
Some of these changes are administrative in nature, but key amendments include:
To update the constitution, we require 20 per cent of our members to attend and 75 per cent to vote for the changes, so we are asking members who cannot attend the EGM, but who would like to exercise their vote, to nominate a fellow member to vote for them by proxy.
