2023 Board & Office-Bearer Nominations

Nominations have now closed for Director and Office-Bearer positions on the YWCA Canberra Board.

We have invited nominations from members who want to contribute to YWCA Canberra and share their governance and leadership skills. We are interested in women with property development, business enterprise, and accounting knowledge.

This year, we can fill up to four vacancies on the board. Our Constitution requires at least two young woman, age 30 years and under at the time of nomination, to be elected as Board Directors this year.

 

Board Director Nominations – now closed

You must be a current YWCA Canberra financial or life member as of 10 September 2023 to nominate for board positions. Associate Members are not eligible to stand. To check the status of your membership, please email us to confirm.

In line with our commitment to reconciliation, we encourage Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander women to apply. YWCA Canberra recognises that diversity contributes to strong governance and, as such, also encourages women with diverse backgrounds to apply. This includes diversity on the basis of cultural background, sexual orientation, disability or other forms of diversity.

The elected Board Directors will join an existing board with expertise in governance, accounting, commercial and industrial relations law, audit and risk and property development planning, and the not-for-profit sector. Read more about our current Board of Directors.

Office-Bearer Nominations – President – now closed

Nominations have now also closed for our available Office-Bearer position. This year, we have taken nominations for President.

You must be a current Director to nominate for an Office Bearer position, or complete both Director Nomination and Officer-Bearer Nomination forms.

Apply by completing both forms and returning them to governance@ywca-canberra.org.au.

If more nominations are received than positions vacant, the Board Director positions are decided by vote. Details of the voting process will be made available to full financial members of YWCA Canberra shortly.

The successful candidates will be announced at our Annual General Meeting on Monday October 30, 2023.
