Deadline extended until midnight Friday 11 December!

Each year, YWCA Canberra fundraises to support our Lanyon Food Hub, an emergency food relief program that provides free, nutritious food to young people and their families in need in the Tuggeranong region. This year, we’re aiming to raise a huge $15,000 with our annual Frugal Feast appeal – and we have an exciting, creative way for you to get involved!

Introducing, the inaugural Frugal Feast Writing Prize…

This year, we’re hosting a special writing competition, to get our community thinking creatively about the issue of emergency food relief, and how insecure access to food might impact on members of our community.

We’re looking for short stories that interrogate the theme ‘The Frugal Feast’. You can be as creative and interpretive with the theme as you like – think about potential futures, different cultures, different meanings of the word ‘feast’!

Our amazing judges are:

Robyn Cadwallader

Robyn is an award-winning writer and poet from the Canberra region. Her novel The Anchoress was awarded the Varuna LitLink NSW Byron Bay Unpublished Manuscript Award in 2010, and continues to receive significant critical acclaim. You can read more about Robyn and her work here.

She is the 2014 Anne Edgeworth Young Writers’ Fellowship recipient, a 2015 Seizure Viva la Novella Editor, was shortlisted for the 2015 Scribe Non-Fiction Prize, and is the 2015 ACT Young Woman of the Year.
