YWCA Canberra have launched the annual Great Ydeas Small Grants Program, which provides funding to help Canberra women and girls to achieve their goals through innovation, entrepreneurship and leadership.
Executive Director Frances Crimmins said that this year’s grants program has been boosted by the support of corporate relationships, producing even more opportunities for local women and girls.
“We are thrilled to have partnered with Australian Catholic Superannuation, EY and NAB to offer three unique grants for young women and girls,”
“We know that women’s leadership is fundamental to advancing gender equality, and that’s why we’re committed to empowering women and girls with practical support through the Great Ydeas program,” Ms Crimmins said.
“Our vision is ‘women shaping our communities’, and the Great Ydeas program is one example of how we work to achieve that objective in the Canberra community.”
In addition to the $8,000 available through the general pool of funding, three specialised grants are available for young Canberra women:
Australian Catholic Superannuation Great Ydeas Enrichment Grant
The Australian Catholic Superannuation Great Ydeas Enrichment Grant is available to help a young woman (aged 12-25) reach her potential through personal development, for example by attending a conference or funding an extra-curricular activity.
EY Great Ydeas Impact Grant
The EY Great Ydeas Impact Grant is available to support a young woman to kick-start a project to boost wellbeing, social connectedness and inclusion, for example a project on mental health awareness, or helping young women access work or training.
NAB Great Ydeas Innovate Grant
The NAB Great Ydeas Innovate Grant is available for a young Canberra woman (aged 12-18) with a passion for innovation and a budding entrepreneurial spirit. The grant is available to support a young woman to kick-start a small business, a social enterprise start-up or an online shop.
Since 2010, more than 30 women have received Great Ydeas grants to support a range of unique activities including business pilots, community development and social enterprise projects, and professional development.
The Great Ydeas Grants Program is open to YWCA Canberra members. Women and girls who wish to become a member can easily sign up online.
