The 2016 She Leads Conference will be held on Tuesday 17 May at QT Canberra, with She Leads masterclasses to be held on Monday 16 May. Tickets and program details are now available at 2016.sheleads.org.au.

Open to all, the She Leads Conference brings women from a range of sectors, at all stages of their leadership journeys, together with Australia’s most inspiring women leaders.

This year, our program explores the theme ‘Transform’ – focusing on stories of personal transformation and experiences from women leaders who are transforming their workplaces, industries and communities. To give you an idea of what to expect, we contacted attendees from years past to find out how attending the Conference has impacted their leadership journeys to date.

Catherine Walsh is involved in a number of local organisations, including as a Board Member of the RSCPA ACTRed Cross in the ACT and Australian National Committee for UN Women, and as a member of YWCA Canberra. Catherine has served the public her entire working life, including 14 years in the Royal Australian Air Force and subsequent Commonwealth Government experience across a number of research, analysis and liaison positions.

Why did you attend the 2015 She Leads Conference?

In 2014 I attended the inaugural She Leads conference, and enjoyed the safe networking environment that the Y created, as well as the speakers and master classes in the afternoon. Based on that experience, and the affordability and accessibility of the conference, I came back in 2015.

What was the highlight of the day?

I met some amazing women, particularly from interstate and Sydney. I think the highlight was Angela Priestley’s masterclass the night before, but I also loved the blend of local inspiring women (Nip, Jessica May) and more well-known or accomplished speakers from interstate.

What would you say to a colleague or friend who is considering attending the 2016 She Leads Conference?

I would encourage them to go – I already am! I find these opportunities are great for furthering my general education.

Early bird tickets to the 2016 She Leads Conference and Masterclasses are available until Tuesday 26 April. Visit 2016.sheleads.org.au to find out more or purchase your ticket.
