YWCA Canberra is a leading provider of early childhood education, and we’re looking for an Early Childhood Teacher to join us at our Centre in Barton.

Currawong Child Care Centre is a 92 place Centre located in the RG Casey Building, on the grounds of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. It is currently rated as Exceeding National Quality Standards.

About the role

As the Early Childhood Teacher, you will be leading and supporting the Preschool room in providing high-quality Early Childhood Education and Care to children between the ages of 5 years of age.  You will work closely with our team of Educators to implement a program and curriculum that reflects best practice.

You will build and maintain positive relationships with children and families, and the local community. Most importantly, you will make a difference to the lives of children in our care.

About You:

You will be a facilitator of continuous improvement, with knowledge of current best practice as well as early childhood theory. You will be an engaged and enthusiastic leader. It is essential that you hold:

  • A Bachelor of Early Childhood Degree (or actively working towards with 50% completion)
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders with demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in mentoring and leading a team of educators.
  • A Working with Vulnerable People card; and
  • Current first aid/asthma anaphylaxis training
  • A great attitude!
