About the Role:

YWCA Canberra School Age Care is looking for an innovative Program Manager to manage and lead a team of educators in one of our School Age Care Programs during the school term.

The school is located within the Tuggeranong area, and members of the school have a strong relationship with the well-established program, who provide consistent support those who work in the service.

Our Program Managers are supported within their role by a Quality Support Unit, Roster Clerk, and a Child Care Accounts team, to provide high quality education and care and practices to children who attend the service.

There are consistent and extensive opportunities both internal and external for professional development, training, and networking, to support Program Managers skill set and knowledge.

The role offers flexible employment arrangements in options of being contracted for either 40 or 52 weeks of the year.

The diploma qualified educator for this Service will lead a program that is situated on the south side of Canberra. You will be working with a smaller team and a vibrant group of children, ensuring best practices and delivering an educational program that will nurture the children’s development and learning.

Suitable applicants for this role will need to demonstrate a sound working knowledge of the National Quality Standards, the Early Years Learning Framework and My Time Our Place Framework, and National Laws and Regulations.  Excellent written and verbal communication skills will also be necessary.

About You:

You will be a facilitator of continuous improvement, with knowledge of current best practice with the sector.  You will be an engaged and enthusiastic leader. It is essential that you have the following:

  •  Diploma of Early Childhood Education or actively working towards holding this qualification (minimum of halfway through), or 2 years completion of Early Childhood Education degree.
  • Have experience working within the Children’s Services Sector.
  • Experience in mentoring and leading a team of educators.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders with demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • A Working with Vulnerable People Card
  • Current First Aid/Asthma Anaphylaxis training
  • A current Australian Police Check
