About the Role:

YWCA Canberra is a feminist, not-for-profit community organisation which has been providing community services and representing women’s issues in the Canberra community since its establishment in 1929. Today, we provide leading and innovative services to women and the broader Canberra community in the areas of children’s services, community development, housing, youth services, personal and professional training, and women’s leadership.

We are looking for an outstanding quality and risk professional to lead the organisation’s quality and risk frameworks across our diverse portfolios. This leadership role reports directly to the CEO and supports the Executive Directors in maintaining our external quality accreditation, currently QIP.

This diverse and challenging role involves:

  • coordinating our organisation’s quality assurance systems and external quality accreditation
  • coordinating all compliance and regulation requirements for the organisation
  • implementing a risk reporting and risk management system
  • leading and contributing to the broader YWCA Canberra team’s motivation and positive attitude towards best practice in human services
  • contributing to YWCA Canberra strategic and operational business plans in relation to quality and risk management planning
  • leading implementation of child safe organisational policy and practice and reportable conduct processes
  • working with the CEO to report to the Audit and Risk Committee and Board
  • being the organisation’s Privacy Officer.

About You:

The role requires excellent organisational, communication and quality and risk practice knowledge and the ability and confidence to work autonomously.

Selection criteria:

  • vocational or tertiary qualifications in human services, quality risk and audit or another relevant field
  • experience and understanding of quality, risk and regulation frameworks and implementation of principles and practices
  • experience in working with people from diverse backgrounds, and an understanding of access and equity issues, principles, and practices
  • understanding of sector-specific regulation such as the Reportable Conduct Scheme
  • experience in team leadership and creating a high-performance work culture in a community sector context
  • demonstrated knowledge of business systems and development
  • demonstrated communication skills, including well-developed written skills and strong interpersonal skills
  • ability to develop relationships with key stakeholders and represent the organisation in a professional manner
  • experience in leading internal investigations.

Applicants must hold a current Working with Vulnerable People Card and will be required to obtain a police check if the WWVP Card is more than three months old.
