2019 VELG National VET Conference

10 October 2019

The VELG 2019 National VET (Vocational Education and Training) Conference  was held in sunny Brisbane this year. The theme for the two-day conference was Innovate-Activate-Educate.

Daniel and Vicki from our Education and Training Unit team were lucky enough to attend the conference on 12-13 September 2019. They attended an energised venue to hear about what is currently happening in the vocational education and training space, and what exciting things are coming up.

Whilst Daniel, our Compliance Officer, attended seminars on compliancy, third-party agreements and tips to activate your compliance, Vicki branched out and attended seminars on leveraging your team’s strengths, strategies for engagement, effective industry engagement and continued professional development, the glitter and gold!

The conference presenters were engaging, knowledgeable and experts in their fields. Both Daniel and Vicki came away with refreshed knowledge on many areas of the VET sector, They were fortunate enough to attend two motivational sessions on ‘Mastering the art of achieving your biggest goals’ by Keith Abraham and ‘Breathing new life in the VET Sector’ by Eric Bailey. Both presenters were charismatic and their enthusiasm was infectious.

After day one of the conference, the VELG team held a ‘VELGYWOOD’ themed welcome function. The event had live bands, prizes, great food. The highlight of the night was the chance to network with other like-minded contemporaries.

Daniel and Vicki look forward to sharing their experiences with YWCA Canberra’s Education and Training Unit team upon their return.
