Campbell Cottage Early Childhood Service

19 September 2018

It’s been a busy couple of days at our Campbell Early Childhood Centre with lots of different activities happening:

On Monday 3 September, we invited dads, and other significant males in each child’s life, as well as other family members and friends to join us for an afternoon tea at our Campbell Cottage

Centre. Our parent library included information that was specific to dads, and family supports. We enjoyed delicious treats complete with chocolate and caramel dipping sauces – a great day was had by all.

During National Child Protection Week (3 -7 September), we reorganised our parent library to include specific information to support families and guide positive

interactions. Through the week we had activities that highlighted different aspects of children’s safety, including:

  • Community walks with road safety discussions before, during and after to enhance road safety knowledge.
  • Exploring where we can go if we feel unsafe and identifying safe houses/places to be if we feel alone, or unsafe, e.g police station.
  • Yoga sessions with discussions about how to keep our bodies fit, healthy and happy.
  • Learned about body safety, using age appropriate children’s literature for white balloon day – Australia’s largest campaign dedicated to preventing child sexual assault.
  • And, we had a visit from a real ambulance.

Interested in finding out more about what we do at our service? We invite you to join us at Campbell Cottage for an open day on Saturday the 20th of October at 9:30 -11:30.
