Tuesday 4 August, Mura Lanyon Youth and Community Centre, in partnership with The ACT Nannies Group, Gulanga Program, Gugan Gulwan Youth Aboriginal Corporation and ACTCOSS, hosted the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day 2015.

The theme for this year’s Children’s Day was ‘Little People, Big Futures’ and the focus was on helping the children to stand tall and feel connected and proud in culture.

The day was an opportunity for all Australians to show their support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, as well as learn about the crucial impact that community, culture and family play in the life of every Indigenous child.

Organisations, community groups and schools came together to celebrate and learn through song and dance, storytelling, painting, food, art and crafts, drumming, cartooning and gardening. Staff from the Mura Lanyon Youth and Community Centre were also supported by several Lanyon High School students, who offered their assistance on the day.
