Thanks to our incredible local community, many less fortunate people will be able to enjoy this holiday season without going hungry.
Last week, we received two large donations for our Lanyon Food Hub at the Mura Lanyon Youth and Community Centre. The first was from Foodbank NSW&ACT, with four trollies worth of goods that Canberrans had generously donated as part of the ABC Giving Tree Appeal.
Then we were touched to receive three large baskets of donations including food, toys and Christmas treats from the wonderful people at Gordon Primary School. Every year, the school gives to the Lanyon Food Hub, and students and staff delivering the donation had the opportunity to meet some of the volunteers and tour the Food Hub.
And just when we thought the generosity of our community couldn’t get bigger, five year old Nathan dropped in to deliver even more food goods! This isn’t Nathan’s first time: he brought in three bags of goods earlier in the year, from saving up his pocket money. What a champ!
The donated goods will enable the Food Hub to help people in need this festive season, so they can join in the holiday cheer.
Thank you to everyone who donated! We couldn’t do what we do without you.
