Youth engagement goes virtual

As our organisation continues to change in the efforts to combat COVID-19, we have had to move many of our services online so that we can continue to maintain contact and provide support to our clients where necessary.
Last week for the first time, our A-Z support group hosted a video catch-up session via Zoom, where participants were able to talk to one another along with our youth programs team. During the week, our youth program team welcomed a first-time participant from regional NSW, who didn’t have access to LGBTQIA+ support networks where they lived. During the session, the young person felt comfortable and grateful for their first interaction with like-minded peers and has continued to join the sessions ever since.
In adjusting to this new environment, our youth engagement team has received outstanding feedback from their new service and will continue providing virtual zoom calls until face to face sessions can resume.
Our A-Z group is a social support group for gender and sexuality diverse young people and allies between the ages of 12 and 25.
