After months of planning and building our Computer Clubhouse into an innovative and exciting out-of-school learning space, YWCA Canberra along with our wonderful partners, are ready to officially launch the Clubhouse with our Grand Opening on Friday 10 October!
YWCA Canberra’s Computer Clubhouse is an innovative, creative, out-of-school learning space where young people from underserved communities can work with adult mentors to develop new skills, explore their own ideas, and build confidence in themselves through the use of technology. The Clubhouse is part of an international movement that was founded in Boston in 1993. You can find out more about the Clubhouse here.
YWCA Canberra’s Computer Clubhouse is located at Richardson Primary School in Tuggeranong, and is a space where young people can drop by to engage with mentors, embark on new projects, and learn in a safe, friendly and open environment.
The Clubhouse doors have been open now since late June, and our members have been busy getting stuck into their projects and learning new skills. Our membership is growing steadily, with at least a dozen young people in the space each day.
Now we want to share their work and the Clubhouse space with our partners and friends at our Grand Opening event!
Whilst the Grand Opening is not open to the public, we encourage you to follow the Clubhouse on Facebook and Twitter, and keep an eye out for the new YWCA Canberra Computer Clubhouse website, coming soon!
