Media release
YWCA Canberra is thrilled to announce the launch of the 2025 Great Ydeas Small Grants Awards, a unique initiative designed to support women, girls, and gender-diverse people in the ACT to turn their ideas into reality. With grants of up to $2500 available, this program provides vital funding to help emerging leaders, entrepreneurs, and changemakers bring their innovative projects to life.
Since its launch in 2010 as a YWCA Canberra 80th birthday gift to the Canberra community, the Great Ydeas Small Grants Awards has funded over 95 projects, empowering individuals to drive meaningful social change in areas such as education, social entrepreneurship, community development, and advocacy. The grants are open to individuals from all backgrounds, with a focus on projects that empower women in our local community and have the potential for growth beyond the initial funding.
YWCA Canberra CEO, Frances Crimmins, expressed her enthusiasm for this year’s program, stating:
“We are beyond proud to fund this at YWCA Canberra. It’s always inspiring to see how these ideas have grown, contributing to a more inclusive and vibrant community for all Canberrans”
The grants can be used for a wide range of projects, from seed funding for launching a small business or community initiative to undertaking professional development or further education. Past recipients have successfully started podcasts, produced creative works, developed innovative community programs, and advanced advocacy campaigns that make a difference in Canberra and beyond.
Applications are now open and will close on 28 March 2025. Recipients will be announced at a special event in April, celebrating the incredible ideas and initiatives shaping our community’s future.
