According to the latest Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) Employer Gender Pay Gaps Data, released via the Data Explorer, YWCA Canberra continues to lead the way in workplace gender equity. Our median gender pay gap stands at -13.1%, reflecting an improvement from 2022-2023 and significantly outpacing national trends.
“The latest data reveals that while the national gender pay gap remains a challenge, YWCA Canberra has continued to set a higher standard for gender equity in the workplace.”
– Frances Crimmins YWCA Canberra CEO
This progress is driven by our Enterprise Agreement, which ensures fair and consistent wages and conditions across our workforce. YWCA Canberra’s commitment to gender equality goes beyond pay structures, encompassing policies that support and empower all employees. In our latest enterprise bargaining round, we secured enhanced paid parental leave provisions, now available from an employee’s first day.
We also provide a range of progressive work-life balance initiatives, including:
• A generous and equitable paid parental leave scheme for all parents, in addition to the Australian Government’s Parental Leave Pay.
• Encouragement for men and non-birthing parents to take parental leave and flexible work arrangements, fostering shared caregiving responsibilities.
• Flexible work options such as a 9-day fortnight and a 4-day compressed work week, promoting a healthier work-life balance.
“YWCA Canberra is proof that pay equity is not just possible—it’s achievable. By embedding fairness into our policies and ensuring all employees receive equal pay for equal work, we are leading the charge for a more inclusive and equitable workforce”
– Frances Crimmins YWCA Canberra CEO
This International Women’s Day, YWCA Canberra calls on workplaces across Australia to march forward closing the gender pay gap isn’t just about women’s equality, it’s about creating a fairer, more inclusive society for everyone.
