As Floriade draws to a close for another blooming season, YWCA Canberra is proud to celebrate its role as the 2025 Charity Partner of Allhomes for The Great Big Bulb Dig, taking place on Monday 13 October 2025.
This much-loved community event marks the end of Floriade by inviting Canberrans to take home a piece of the festival’s floral magic. For $20 per bag, participants can dig up their own bulbs from Commonwealth Park between 11am and 3pm, with all proceeds going to YWCA Canberra’s YHomes—a program providing safe, affordable homes for women and families experiencing housing insecurity due to homelessness or domestic violence.
YWCA Canberra CEO Frances Crimmins said the organisation is thrilled to join forces with Allhomes through this partnership, which recognises how both organisations help Canberrans find a place to call home.
“We’re incredibly grateful to Allhomes for choosing YWCA Canberra’s YHomes as the 2025 charity partner. As a deeply rooted Canberra-based community organisation, this partnership just makes sense. Allhomes is about helping people find a place to call home and so are we. But for us, a home is more than just a roof over someone’s head. It’s about safety, dignity, and a chance to rebuild. Through this partnership, we’re creating real opportunities for women and families to thrive.” -Frances Crimmins, YWCA Canberra CEO
Allhomes, Floriade’s new presenting partner, is marking its 25th anniversary with its ‘We Know Canberra’ campaign celebrating the homes, people, and communities that make the capital unique. The campaign highlights Allhomes’ deep commitment to Canberra, Queanbeyan, and the ACT, and now extends that local connection through its support of YWCA Canberra’s YHomes initiative.
YWCA Canberra is encouraging residents to join The Great Big Bulb Dig, celebrate the closing of Floriade, and make a lasting difference for local women and families.
