YWCA Canberra is seeking an experienced Rentwell Program Manager to lead and grow our flagship Rentwell Program, delivering high-quality, affordable rental housing to Canberrans on moderate incomes.
Established in 2019, Rentwell provides housing at 74.9% of market rent to people who are increasingly locked out of the private rental market. As a registered Tier 2 Community Housing Provider, YWCA Canberra has been delivering housing and homelessness services for families since 1996 and continues to expand its impact across the housing continuum.
This is a senior, hands-on leadership role ideal for an experienced property professional who brings a values‑based, strengths‑focused approach to property management and service delivery.
About the Role
Reporting to the Manager Homelessness and Housing, you will:
- Lead and oversee Rentwell’s property and tenancy management services
- Manage and support a small property and administration team
- Hold a caseload and contribute directly to service delivery
- Build strong relationships with property owners, tenants and partners
- Grow the number of properties under management
- Drive service quality, customer satisfaction and continuous improvement
- Work collaboratively across YWCA Canberra and with government and sector partners
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Rentwell team to deliver high‑quality, relationship‑focused property and tenancy management services
- Manage a caseload, including property sourcing, inspections, tenant and owner eligibility, maintenance coordination, rent and arrears management, and payments
- Build and maintain strong relationships with property owners, tenants, partners and government agencies
- Drive business development by growing the Rentwell property portfolio and promoting the program
- Act as the primary escalation point for service issues and complaints
- Contribute to service design, systems improvement, documentation and reporting to support program quality and growth
- Work collaboratively across YWCA Canberra, supervising and supporting staff and fostering continuous improvement
- Ensure accurate administration, financial oversight and timely internal and external reporting
About You
You are an experienced property or housing professional who combines technical expertise with strong people leadership and a genuine commitment to social impact. You are confident working independently, influencing stakeholders and balancing operational delivery with strategic growth.
- ACT property management experience
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship skills
- Experience supervising staff and managing performance
- Business development or portfolio growth experience
- Understanding of affordable housing and working with vulnerable communities
- Strong financial, administrative and systems capability
- A strengths‑based, gender and trauma‑informed practice approach
Qualifications in Real Estate / Property Management and/or Community Services or Management are desirable. Experience using Property Tree or similar systems is well regarded.
