EMBARGOED UNTIL TUESDAY MARCH 3, 2026
YWCA Canberra has made significant progress in one year on achieving gender parity with a –4.9% gender pay gap. This outstanding result, which sits within the Workplace Gender Equality Agency’s (WGEA) ‘neutral’ range of plus or minus five per cent.
Building on last year’s result of –10.5 per cent, YWCA Canberra has continued to make a steadfast effort to continually narrow the gender pay gap.
“A negative pay gap close to gender parity doesn’t happen by accident. It’s the result of deliberate, sustained action,” said Frances Crimmins, CEO of YWCA Canberra.
“We’ve worked hard to build a workplace where every employee is valued and rewarded equitably, and these figures reflect that commitment. We hope our results inspire other ACT employers to take bold steps towards pay equity.”

Initiatives such as youth programs at the Mura Lanyon Youth and Community Centre and the new Pathways Housing and Support Program have enabled YWCA Canberra to expand its community impact while diversifying its workforce, including the employment of more men in traditionally feminised sectors.
These results reflect our continued efforts to identify and address systemic barriers while promoting fair and transparent policies across every level of our workforce. YWCA Canberra’s workforce is predominantly women, with strong female representation in leadership, a factor reflected in its current WGEA results.
YWCA Canberra’s Enterprise Agreement (2023–2027) is a key driver in promoting gender equality and closing the gender pay gap. It ensures fair and consistent pay, supports equal career progression, and strengthens work-life balance through provisions for parental leave, flexible work arrangements and professional development. This agreement reinforces YWCA Canberra’s commitment to creating an inclusive and respectful workplace where all employees, particularly women, can thrive.
