YWCA Canberra’s Fairley Early Childhood Service is seeking a flexible, skilled, and energetic Casual Cook to support our kitchen operations. Located in the heart of Murrumbateman, Fairley is a vibrant, family‑focused centre surrounded by a picturesque rural community.

About the Role

You will be responsible for supporting the daily kitchen operations, including:

  • Preparing nutritious, child‑friendly meals
  • Managing dietary and allergy requirements
  • Maintaining a hygienic and safe kitchen
  • Stock ordering, shopping, and food preparation

You Will Need

  • Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery, or relevant experience
  • Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
  • Working With Children Check (NSW)
  • Experience planning menus that meet nutritional guidelines for children
  • Confidence in accommodating allergy‑related and dietary requirements
  • Experience maintaining a safe, hygienic kitchen and working within compliance frameworks
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently
  • A positive, flexible attitude and strong interpersonal skills
