The Workplace Gender Equality Agency has again recognised YWCA Canberra for embedding gender equality into the everyday employee experience — not just policy on paper.

YWCA Canberra has been awarded the Employer of Choice for Gender Equality (EOCGE) Citation by the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) for the 2026–2028 period — continuing an unbroken streak of recognition that began in 2014.
“Holding the Workplace Gender Equality Citation provides national recognition that YWCA Canberra is deeply committed to positive action to achieve gender equality in their workplace.”
— Mary Wooldridge, CEO, Workplace Gender Equality Agency
WGEA CEO Mary Wooldridge noted that citation holders go beyond policy, embedding gender equality into the moments that matter most for workers at every level — from recruitment and parental leave through to everyday culture and leadership.

“We’ve held this citation since 2014. This reflects more than a decade of sustained action and accountability, and we encourage more organisations in Canberra to join us in building their own future decades of progress.”
— Frances Crimmins, CEO, YWCA Canberra
As YWCA Canberra enters its 13th year of recognition, CEO Frances Crimmins says the organisation remains committed to going further — including meeting its Positive Duty obligations through trauma-informed, preventative approaches that keep people safe and respected at work.
The citation is used as a live benchmark rather than a destination. YWCA Canberra continually reviews its policies, practices and culture against the standard, ensuring gender equality is embedded across the organisation — not siloed in HR.
Employment conditions that back up the award

Beyond the citation, YWCA Canberra offers charitable salary packaging, above-award wages, and a workplace culture that prioritises equity, wellbeing and professional growth. In 2025, the organisation’s Quality Innovation Performance accreditation included a specific commendation for workforce gender equality — with assessors noting it is the only Canberra-based organisation to hold this citation.
Sounds like the kind of place you want to work, right?
